Hibiscus Three Publishing Award 2022 Recipient announced - Mary Terriette Aseari

Early last week, Hibiscus Three was pleased to announce Mary Terriette Aseari as the Recipient of the Hibiscus Three Publishing Award 2022.

Launched in 2020, Hibiscus Three Publishing Award initiative was established with a focus on encouraging the inclusion of Papua New Guinean women writers in book publishing.

An initiative of the imprint’s founder and owner, Rashmii Bell, the Award placed a call out to writers to submit their original writing for an opportunity to be published with small, independent publisher.

In previous years, the Award Recipient has been announced in line with International Women's Day (#IWD) on 8 March.

Ms Bell congratulates Aseari ;“I'm really excited to be working alongside Mary to publish her work in progress. Mary's creative writing, particularly her Spoken Word prose is refreshing and encompasses a range of issues that is weighing on the minds of young adult Papua New Guineans."

Aseari's Epitome of Beauty and Intelligence featured (and widely read) in Hibiscus Three's online Writers Exhibition PNG46 in celebration on of Papua New Guinea's 46th Independence Day in 2021.

Mary Terriette Aseari now joins Vinzealhar Nen (2021) and inaugural Recipient, Thytira Kaupa (2020) as a Papua New Guinean woman author to be published under the Hibiscus Three Publishing Award initiative.

In the lead up to Papua New Guineans joining in with global celebrations of #IWD2022, Hibiscus Three encourages readers throughout PNG and abroad to support and celebrate Papua New Guinean Women Writers by including the Award's published titles; Listen by Thyatira Kaupa, and Memoir of A Wounded Warrior by Vinzealhar Nen.
